Australis, the project

Formally established as a musical presence in August 2004, Australis represents the never-ending quest for the acoustics of emotions, the rhythms of passion and the unique melodies of the human condition.

The name "Australis" means "Southern" or "from the South" in ancient Latin, and symbolizes the region of the planet where the project's founder experienced his first own emotions.

Australis' music follows paths similar to those followed by the human heart in its constant evolution, mixing emotions and mindsets to form complete emotional universes parallel to those existing within every person. Painting with his own acoustic perceptions, his music journeys through new age, ambient, world, electronica and classic genres among others. The always unique outcome gives birth to aural landscapes where heart and rhythm blend seamlessly; rich and vast environments that seduce the soul to explore and discover, to expand and to feel.

Australis' first offering was his ten track debut album "Lifegiving" (Independent Records, May 2005), a compilation of creative works that come together as a diverse mixture of styles. Its tracks, favorites in several on line radio stations long before the album's release, earned the project the Morpheus Music's "2004 Best New and Independent Artist" award in January 2005. "The Gates of Reality", Australis' second release (Essential Noises, Nov. 2008), compiles fourteen tracks amounting to over 74 minutes of original music. It explores, from different perspectives, the many relationships we humans have with the imaginary; relationships that can be benevolent or tyrannical, irrelevant or determinant, an enjoyable pastime or a indispensable counterpart to reality. "Sentient Genus" is Australis' latest release (Essential Noises, Nov. 2010). This new album brings together twelve brand new tracks embarking, each track in its own way, in their own expedition to unveil particular characteristics of the human essence. Examining good and evil, light and darkness, courage and cowardice, honor and corruption; this album departs from the "only-pleasant-feelings" paradigm and presents a compilation of acutely contrasting emotions.
