Formally established as a musical presence in August 2004, Australis represents the never-ending quest for the acoustics of emotions, the rhythms of passion and the unique melodies of the human condition.

The name "Australis" means "Southern" or "from the South" in ancient Latin, and symbolizes the region of the planet where the project's founder experienced his first own emotions.

Australis, the person

Australis is the music project and also the artistic name adopted by its founder in his constant quest to express what cannot be said through spoken tongues.

Born in a land of ancient cultures where millenary traditions are present everywhere and thousands of years of history are part of daily life, he was exposed to music and musical instruments since birth. Noticing his early interest, and contrary to conventional wisdom, he was allowed to explore those instruments in complete freedom and without the interference of formal instruction.
